In, 1990 the archipelago became a whale sanctuary. Ecuador’s capital city is Quito and its largest city is Guayaquil. Ecuador has substantial petroleum resources.

CASAMAR business activities are in the province of MANABI where it has a free zone facility inland and a netyard in the Commercial Port of Manta, Ecuador’s 2nd largest port. Manta is the most populated city in Manabi and the fifth most populated in the country. Because of its thriving tuna industry, Manta is the 3rd most important city in all of Ecuador. Manta has always been a major trading city in Ecuador. It was a major trading post for the Incas in the pre-columbian days and today, one of the major tuna trading centers in the world. The main industries are fishing and tuna canning/processing.

Processed tuna is exported to Europe and the U.S. Most of the major tuna processing operators in the world have sizable operations in Manta. The combination of its rich and high-quality local fishery resource, petroleum resources, competitive labor rates, U.S. dollar currency, the U.S. ATPA Law, and large concentration of international and local tuna processors makes it one of the most important tuna centers in the world.

CASAMAR ECUADOR. CASAMAR started operating in Ecuador in 1994. It was not until 1997, that CASAMAR opened its first netyard at the Port of Manta. CASAMAR also has warehouse facilities and open space for future expansion within the Free Zone of Manta, also called: ZOFRAMA. This facility allows CASAMAR to deliver merchandise to foreign flag vessels at a significantly lower cost.
